New Vegan/Vegetarian Restaurant Happy Tapas Enniskillen Review

Last night we were invited to come along and try a new, fresh dining experience in enniskillen.  "Happy Tapas"is a vegetarian/vegan tapas bar situated next door/owned by popular cafe "The Happiness Trap".  Although the bar currently doesn't have an alcohol license you are welcome to bring your own bottle or they supply a wide range of non alcohol beverages also.

The atmosphere on arrival is carefree, friendly and welcoming which is always inviting to have when being greeted on arrival.  The decor is a mix of chic meets eclectic.  Soft bohemian vibes meet hard rustic textures to provide a truly captivating layered experience.  If you like music, Italian, artistic, rustic inspired spaces this place is for you.

One of the highlights of the evening was how helpful and polite both the staff were.  We were interested to see what they would recommend so it was explained to us that the chef was Italian and which items on the menu are inspired by her culture.  Due to the suggestions we opted for some breaded aubergine balls served with a tomato sauce (not on menu replacement of veggie meatballs) which is something we would never have even considered, we were delighted to find they were full of flavour and the soft smooth filling contrasted well with the crispy coating.  Thank you to the staff for making our experience so memorable.

What we ordered to share between two (As show in Pictures Above)
Devils Bread with sweet chilli - £3
Tomato Bruschette - £4
Garlic + Thyme Chips - £4
Breaded Aubergine Balls with tomato sauce (not on menu replacement of Veggie Meatballs) £7
Deep Fried Brie + Halloumi with maple Syrup - Two portions £8 each X2 = £16
Total - £34

Devils bread was crispy with a slight chilli heat without being too much.  The tomato bruschetta was my least favourite due to personal preference, the bread was fresh/soft with freshly chopped tomatoes, I personally prefer more garlic/basil flavour to my bruschetta with a toasted base. The Garlic + Thyme chips had a beautiful flavour and texture to them, one of our favourite dishes we experienced although we did expect to have ordered more of a traditional crispy chip shape but they were more like soft cubed potatoes something to bare in mind when ordering.  Last but not least the best dish was the Fried Brie + Halloumi, the outside coating had a crispy texture which paired beautifully with the gooey Morish centre - 5* for this dish which ranked along with top restaurant experiences I have had previously.

In summary I think this bar is a lovely new addition to the town as we don't have anything quite the same.  Its providing more options for vegans/vegatarians instead of one additional dish on a menu like most other places.  The carefree relaxed environment makes a great spot for an after work tipple and some nibbles with the girls.  It offers a more healthily approach to eating out for people who want to expand on different flavours.
